SELF-AGGRANDIZEMENT AS
OBJECTIVE ANALYSIS
graph
Visual designers provide the liquor that causes the message and the audience to make out in the parking lot on the way to their car.

Versatile, adaptable, and willing to try new things: these are not only the qualities you want in a romantic and/or financial partner but also what you should expect from your designer.

A designer's life is a harrowing ride choked with obligations, expectations and judgements both external and internal. Pulled in one direction by the ceaseless droning of stimulus and influence, pulled in another by target markets and the obligation of benefactors. The price of continued employment is constant attention combined with the ability to shift gears like a substitute teacher on skates.

Above all, you want a listener. Beware the designer that seeks to distract you with sparklers, thick rolls of fondant, and turtle-necked industry buzz-words like printer or invoice. What's needed is a thinker, not a stylist. Surely your projects deserve something more than a slick exterior!

An experienced designer understands that projects often come with expectations and goals from multiple sources like business, editorial, sales, advertisers, U/X and audience and that one of the key challenges is creating something that serves all of those needs equally (or at least fairly).

I mix a confident understanding of design tools with an intuitive feel for typography, color and composition. A natural curiosity keeps me exploring and learning new mediums so I'm comfortable in print, web or mobile environments and can easily adapt to new situations.

I'm grateful for the luck I've had so far and would like to continue my good fortune of working with interesting people on interesting projects. Got something in mind? Let's talk. In NYC? Let's have a drink.
